Chant Down Babylon
Superstar artists Lauryn Hill, Busta Rhymes, Steven Tyler, Erykah Badu and more share their passion for Bob by singing with him on an album featuring his original vocals and music, rearranged by Stephen Marley.
"Bob Marley: Chant Down Babylon" is a true family effort with Stephen holding the role of executive producer, while his brothers share production credits. Stephen and his brothers also record "Kinky Reggae" for the album, under the name The Marley Brothers.
The album is a unique musical collaboration with The Marley Brothers incorporating their Dad's songs and the talent of other artists who have long been inspired by his music and message. Tracks and artists on the album so far include Erykah Badu "No More Trouble", Guru "Johnny Was", Steven Tyler "Roots Rock Reggae", Lauryn Hill "Turn Your Lights Down Low", Busta Rhymes "Rastaman Chant", Krazy Bone "Rebel Music", MC Lyte "Jammin", Roots "Burning & Lootin", and the Lost Boyz "Guiltiness". "We want to bring peace to the urban youth," says Stephen. "We decided to do it after Tupac was shot. This kind of stuff shouldn't happen to musicians. We want to influence the youth with this music and bring peace to the urban communities." (from Rolling Stone) Other tracks and artists will be announced here along with special contests and promotions.
"Bob Marley: Chant Down Babylon" is to be released by Island Def Jam on November 16th.
